Ellensburg School District has become aware of a recent concern regarding food availability at our middle school lunch program. We want to assure our school community that this is not accurate.
Our production records clearly demonstrate that we are consistently preparing sufficient food to meet the needs of all our students. For example, on November 12, The Morgan Middle School kitchen had leftovers of every entree prepared: five cheeseburgers, 15 servings of teriyaki chicken and rice, and 20 freshly made sub sandwiches. While it's understandable that students may not always receive their first choice of food, this does not indicate a shortage.
We also want to express our sincere gratitude to our dedicated kitchen staff. They work tirelessly, often beginning their day at 3:30 AM, to prepare delicious and nutritious meals for our students. It is disheartening to see untrue statements that undermine their hard work and commitment to our students.
We encourage parents with specific concerns to contact our Child Nutrition office directly at 509-925-8217. We value open communication and are committed to addressing any issues promptly.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we work to provide a positive and fulfilling dining experience for all of our students.
